The Saturday Nite Tailgaters Swap Net become out of a fact that I noticed that on VHF there was no Net or Web in Canada Dedicated to the Purpose of helping other Amateurs find parts for Repeaters, and it grew into a Public Forem for everyone to use via the Large F.A.R.S VHF Linked Repeater Network(F.A.R.R.N) at WWW.FARS.CA Since I work for Telus in Mobile Communications I was able to get help fron Telus Engineers and get help Designing , Engineering , and Installing most of the Initial System along with my Friends and Associates Dale Coutts VA6DD(CTV)), Colin VE6ROC(CRHA HEATLH REGION, Dale Munro VE6XA(CTV).Larry Nichols VE6LDN(Sheep River Electic), and Rentenna(the owners that rented the first Cell Site Building out to AGT Mobility(now called Telus Mobility)
Dale VA6DD and I figuredured we could go father by Linking Our Network to the S.A.R.A Network WWW.SARA.CA. S.A.R.A also provides the VHF/UHF/IRPL Section of the Swap Net with an IRLP link to Saskatchewan Reflector 9302.
We are also lucky to have a team of Dedicated Controllers for the Net which is unformal, friendly and Has brought a lot of operators together on Saturday Night for a chat and to help each other out with Technical advice etc.We Started some time around year 2002 when I moved from High River Alaberta to Black Diamond Alberta.
The Saturady Nite Tailgaters Swap Net has just fentured into getting a website as of April\2009 and we also are now on HF right after the Alberta Public Service net on 3700Khz
